What to Do With Common Core Writing Prompts

What to Do With Common Core Writing PromptsMany of the best writing prompts come from the Common Core State Standards which is a set of guidelines that every student is required to follow. Some students find the Common Core prompts more helpful than others. Here's how you can use the Common Core Writing Prompts to get your students writing better essays and papers in the next few weeks. The first thing you should do is to write a college-level essay. Once you have written the college level essay, then you can move on to the Common Core Writing Prompts. The first part of the Writing Prompts is to describe a situation in which the writer believes the writer and/or the reader can agree with the writer's perspective. Examples are 'This woman was afraid she might get herself and her baby sick from some of the coffee in the house'I found that when I was sleeping the tinnitus was going away'. Some students may find this too much to handle and they prefer a shorter version of this task. In the se cases, you should have the students write down some other example sentences to practice in the next step. The second part of the Writing Prompts is to describe certain things that need to be changed or adjusted in a way that gets rid of the problem and moves forward. This is often easier said than done so the best solution for some students is to use some form of creative writing. You may want to have some students use descriptive editing and just describe how they are feeling or looking at the problem in an essay or report. The writing prompt should have them create a summary of their experiences in this manner.Remember that students have all different perspectives and sometimes the best way to explain a problem is to not have a solution in mind. They will just jump right into the discussion, so you may want to ask them a few questions to get their ideas flowing. Some students may find that their ideas seem to work best when they describe how they are imagining the problem instea d of talking about it.If you assign a term paper you can keep the grading system the same as the first step. What you need to do is to find a method for grading essays that uses the Common Core Writing Prompts. For example, you may use a point system where students get a certain number of points for each sentence they use and then they must write a total score. Now the Writing Prompts can change to fit the Common Core Guidelines. In order to give students writing experience before their essays are due, you may want to give them short writing assignments that have a common theme around a certain topic. This allows them to write something without having to worry about the strict rules of the Common Core writing standards. You should be able to identify what the best answer to the Writing Prompts for grade writing are for your students. Use the Common Core Writing Prompts and write good essays and papers to help your students ace their exams and get good grades.
